Mad Men, if you have not seen, you have not seen anything

I thought that after 'The Godfather' (especially the first part), would not both virtuosity and perfection to recreate certain times . Tired of gimmicky or hyper-realistic film that overwhelms us today, I missed the glamorous beauty of old films from the golden age of Hollywood. Until the 'box silly 'gave birth to a wonderful creature called Mad Men.

Just pull up the first chapters, the series becomes demanding. I confess it took me catch you the storyline, but once on the train, it is impossible to get off of it, not because we can, but because they wanted to. Beginning to see, so I brought that characteristic whiff of old paper from the small library of my uncles, where I spent hours reviewing the old Readers Digest collection , when the magazine was much substance and not the pathetic collection of articles summary it is today. That whole retro aesthetic of airline advertising, automobiles and beverages that recreated its inside pages, by the grace of the creators of the series, beautifully brought to life today.

But what is Mad Men?, Is it an ad or spot that never ends about men engaged in a war whose most effective weapon is persuasion or rather a place where, as they say, the truth lie?
a scene, how not advertising, which airs daily executive powers ambitious and eager for glory, mixed in a cocktail of variegated situations that reflect the American society of those turbulent years of the 60, when surfaced the struggle for civil rights the disadvantage of women, the scenes of the Cold War, etc.

Nobody afraid if you will not hear any shooting, yes, too much alcohol will run fine and look much smoke up in the doctor's office. See smoking does have the attractive enough to think, especially the elegant and beautiful Rachel Menken, a punishment that did not give more rope to the character, I loved that he had a distinguished air, anyway.

Getting into the intricacies of the plot, its refined and most intelligent dialogue requires commitment and a viewer's cultural background. The interesting thing about the series and its greatest asset, apart from its aesthetic careful, is that they take the trouble, although it seems superfluous to fully develop the characters, providing them with complexity, credibility and behavior in line with the reality of time. hopefully not superheroes or supervillains, just flesh and bone with his virtues, misery and ambiguities. That said, it is impossible not to want to put on his shiny shoes of Don Draper , that fucking ladies man who always has an answer for everything, but at heart he is a being haunted by his dark past and vulnerable as a child despite all phlegmatic composure that spreads throughout the episodes. Magnificently embodied by an unknown actor, if I had the good fortune to appear often on the big screen, would surely blanch at the very Clooney.

Betty Draper, the wife would either have to brag to your friends. A beautiful blonde to Grace Kelly, but with the complex daddy's girl who has everything, nevertheless dissatisfied and unhappy as the crown of a pine, a depressive haunting drama of Ibsen.

Peggy Olson, the ever-earnest Peggy, the subject of discussion among men, certainly envious of your talent and that rises to moments of consciousness or mirror Don Draper. It is certainly one of the key characters throughout the series.

Giving much can be uncovered Pete Campbell, an arrogant brat ambition, able to break all the rules and conventions as long climb to positions of privilege.

call attention, those hobbies Bert Cooper, a character beloved patriarchal air but displayed little, it gave a lack of respect and tradition firm Sterling Cooper, the theater of war operations of egos and advertising slogans.

Providing plenty of material, there is the other boss, Roger Sterling , which does not seem to do anything except tell jokes and anecdotes from World War II and has fortunate to enjoy the prize which is the chief secretaries stunning. What can we say about Joan Holloway and her red dress, which has gaping salivating Sterling and the other boys. For that, salt and pepper to the whole story.

Having seen , including those long silences that speak for themselves and frequent shadows that 'light' throughout the series, it is impossible not so much awe and wonder for neatness, thoroughness and consistency historical argument. And that splendid picture depicting as they can be a time of elegance, cars with fins, satin dresses, hair parted, fine hats and coats, made to witness the golden years a time that was possible, until the arrival of hippies and screwed everything.
